I am looking to recruit on behalf of our existing client a Welding Inspector to join their team. The ideal candidate must be CSWIP 3.1 qualified.

This role involves pre- and post-weld visual inspection, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The successful candidate will have strong welding knowledge, experience managing quality systems, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-weld fit-up inspections, ensuring correct alignment and gap dimensions.
  • Conduct random spot check visual inspections throughout projects.
  • Assess weld quality and safety, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).
  • Identify reworks, document necessary repair procedures, and support corrective actions.
  • Complete all required project documentation, including final sign-offs.
  • Collaborate with welders to provide feedback, address issues, and improve welding quality.
  • Ensure the correct tools and materials are being used per specifications.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications accurately.
  • Oversee documentation and Material Record Books (MRB), working alongside operations and contract managers.
  • Conduct weekly quality inspections to maintain high standards.
  • Manage quality systems with the support of operations.
  • Health & Safety (H&S) experience is desirable ability to oversee and manage the H&S system with operations support.
  • Support contract managers during peak workloads, assisting with MTO (Material Take-Off) and purchasing.
  • Continuously review and improve welding processes and procedures.

Requirements:

  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector qualification (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, different weld types, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
  • Experience in visual inspections and quality assessments.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience managing quality documentation and procedures.
