We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Department for Computer Science to lead and expand our thriving Computing department.
The Role
As Head of Department for Computer Science, you will:
Lead the Curriculum: Design and deliver an engaging, progressive Computer Science curriculum for KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5.
Inspire Excellence: Teach Computer Science lessons to a high standard, inspiring students to achieve their best.
Drive Innovation: Stay ahead of technological advancements, integrating cutting-edge tools and programming languages into lessons.
Manage the Department: Oversee a team of teachers, providing mentoring, professional development, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Collaborate: Work closely with senior leadership and other department heads to enhance the school's overall performance.
Monitor Progress: Assess and analyze student performance, implementing strategies to close attainment gaps.
Promote Inclusion: Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
About You
We are seeking a dedicated professional with:
Qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
Experience:
Demonstrable success teaching Computer Science at secondary level.
Prior leadership or middle-management experience (e.g., subject leader, year head, or deputy head of department).
Skills:
Expertise in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or similar).
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
A track record of using innovative teaching methods to engage students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Personal Attributes:
Passionate about Computer Science and its future potential.
Committed to continuous professional development.
