GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner mainstream secondary schools in the Loughborough area. If you have experience supporting children with diverse learning needs and are committed to helping them thrive within a mainstream classroom environment, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to SEN students within a mainstream secondary classroom, helping them to access the curriculum effectively.
- Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning plans, focusing on individual needs and goals for SEN students.
- Support students with their physical, emotional, and social development, ensuring they feel included and supported within the wider school community.
- Encourage positive behavior and independence, collaborating closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to maintain a productive learning environment.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker in a secondary school or similar environment.
- A caring and patient approach with strong communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Understanding of various SEN conditions, including Autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
- Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are desirable but not essential.
