Research Analyst - Environmental Sustainability and Decarbonization

The job will require the analyst to:

  • Undertake aircraft mission level analysis to analyze potential of various fuel efficiency, emission reduction initiatives and operational improvements to achieve future sustainability targets
  • Develop and utilize data analytics tools to improve operations and decision-making
  • Collect, analyze and present data from ongoing emission reduction research projects being conducted by the airline
  • Periodically undertake review of available scientific literature and present analysis on various topics on sustainability /decarbonisation in aviation. This will include novel aircraft and propulsion technologies, fuels and other associated technology concepts currently being researched to enable the aviation industry to achieve Net Zero emission tragets by 2050
  • Support airline emission reporting requirements to external agencies
  • Support the preparation of periodic reports for various Boards or Steering Group meetings to show the progress and impact of initiatives brought forward through the program

AbOUT THE JOB

  • Aircraft simulation and performance analysis
  • Analytical modelling framework development using a programming language (Python, Matlab etc.)
  • Analysing data – emissions (CO2 and non-CO2) reduction and ops efficiency improvement
  • Undertake (CO2 and Non-CO2) emission assessments for the airline
  • Support all periodical reporting tasks to international and regulatory environmental reduction schemes (a.o. EU ETS, CORSIA, ReFuel EU and Non CO2 MRV)
  • Technology assessments for long term strategic decarbonisation


About You

  • A degree/advanced (Post Graduate) degree in aerospace/aeronautical engineering
  • Familiarity with aircraft performance modelling, software and assessments
  • Strong background programming (Python, Matlab)
  • Knowledge and ability to use machine learning tools data analytics software (Tableau and R) is preferable (but not compulsory)
  • Have an interest in the decarbonisation of the aviation sector, with good knowledge of aviation related emissions (CO2 and non-CO2), Sustainable Aviation Fuels and key technology routes currently being envisaged to achieve long-term sustainability and Net-Zero targets by the aviation industry
  • Ability to think strategically see the bigger picture, analyse complex problems and quickly evaluate options
  • Understand and balance the needs of internal as well as external stakeholders
  • Good communicator with the capability to interact with, facilitate and influence a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with a collaborative and supportive approach and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to deliver in a multi-site cross-cultural complex consensus driven organization
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, additional language skills would be appreciated
  • Willingness and ability to travel
