As a Primary and Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to support the learning and development of young children with additional needs. Your role will involve providing one-to-one and small-group support, adapting learning resources, and using creative strategies to help children engage, communicate, and thrive in their educational environment.
Responsibilities of the Primary and Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.

Responsibilities of the Primary and Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Provide individual and group support to children in Early Years and Primary settings with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Learning Difficulties.
- Assist in delivering structured and play-based learning interventions to support cognitive and social development.
- Use visual aids, sensory resources, and assistive communication tools to help children engage and express themselves effectively.
- Support children in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
- Assist in creating a calm, nurturing, and structured learning environment, tailored to the needs of each child.
- Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement, fostering confidence and self-esteem in young learners.
- Support children with personal care tasks, if necessary, ensuring their dignity and comfort.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Support Worker, or in Early Years of SEN provision.
- Understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Primary Key Stages 1 and 2.
- Knowledge of SEN conditions, including Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, and Speech and Language Needs.
- Experience using behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, ensuring children feel safe and supported.
- Ability to adapt learning materials and teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Competitive pay rates (£95 - £100 per day), recognising your valuable support and dedication.
