JOB : Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION : Northampton

TERM : Permanent

SALARY : GBP 35,000 to GBP 45,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is collaborating with an industry:leading company based in Northampton. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and work on a range of innovative projects.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

: A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on sheet metal design.

: Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.

: Expertise in designing sheet metal components, including knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes.

: A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).

: Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, and engineering principles.

: Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

: Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

: Excellent problem:solving skills and attention to detail.

: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer Role Will Involve

: Designing and developing mechanical systems and sheet metal components for various engineering projects.

: Using SolidWorks to create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.

: Generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.

: Collaborating with production teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing and quality standards.

: Conducting design reviews and implementing improvements based on feedback and testing results.

: Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

: Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time and within budget.

: Identifying opportunities to enhance designs for performance and cost efficiency.
