We are looking for a Lead Project Manager to join Yusen Logistics UK.
As a Lead Project Manager, you will focus on delivering new business implementations and /or facility upgrade projects within agreed timescales and budgets, ensuring smooth and successful implementation and start-up. Therefore, we're looking for an individual with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and meeting client expectations.
The successful candidate will collaborate with various business functions as required, including operations, IT, HR, and HS&E, orchestrating activities to deliver the necessary scope while managing risks and issues.
The role will offer a salary range between £50,000 and £55,000 (Subject to experience) and will be based at any of our sites in the UK.

- Ensure projects are correctly scoped and defined, with clear objectives, appropriate workstreams and activities.
- Create project plans per the required project activity and workstreams, ensuring that project teams are resourced correctly
- Manage projects to cost, quality and time, adhering to the Yusen project management methodology and implementing the agreed framework and governance into each project
- Coordinate internal workstreams/resources and third-party vendors in line with defined project deliverables
- Apply problem-solving skills to resolve any roadblocks that arise, escalating in a timely manner any issues that may affect delivery
- Conduct rigorous assessment of project risks, monitor and control until project closure/handover, promptly highlighting any deviances or issues as appropriate.
- Establish collaborative relationships and maintain a strong level of communication with internal stakeholders across the business, as well as with customers and suppliers as appropriate
- Schedule and facilitate project meetings, steering committees, and other meetings as required, and prepare presentations and materials as necessary.
- Escalate issues and concerns as appropriate to the steering group/ Project Sponsor
- Document and communicate project ‘lessons learned’ in conjunction with the company methodology to support and promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Manage and monitor performance levels through the annual PDR process, objective setting, and other appropriate mechanisms, providing proper mentoring and support.
- Ensure the team knows key business outcomes, processes, and expectations, consistently and promptly delivers all company communications, and provides appropriate feedback.
- Support business investigations and disciplinary and grievance processes across the organisation.
- Ensure all company procedures, including absence, performance, holiday, etc, are managed and adhered to.
- Ensure all team members know key outcomes, business processes, and expectations.
- Ensuring due attention is provided to employee welfare, identifying and signposting areas of support where necessary, and ensuring functional arrangements are in place to protect the well-being of all employees.
- Prince2 Practitioner or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing complex projects in the warehousing, transport or automotive industry.
- Leadership experience is desirable
- Experience of managing automation projects is desirable
- Experience of managing projects to implement new business and/or start up new operations
- The ability to influence stakeholders both internally & externally and at different levels of seniority
- Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude and solution-focused
- Excellent communication skills to enable discussion and presentation of complex issues and solutions.
- Ability to motivate self and others, working alongside operational teams to meet challenging deadlines
- Open, honest and transparent leadership style
