About the Role
You will provide administrative and editorial assistance to the music publishing team so that print and digital sheet music titles publish efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
Duties will include:
- Provide administrative support to the publishing team, for example processing invoices and distributing contractual copies of publications.
- Maintain company and departmental databases, ensuring title data is accurate and prepared in a timely manner.
- As directed by the Managing Editor, brief and liaise with freelance contributors to ensure the timely delivery of outsourced content to required quality and budget.
- Provide project support to the publishing team and assist in the preparation of selected sheet music titles in-house, including briefing covers, writing blurbs, and using music engraving software to prepare supporting materials.
- Contribute to the department’s backlist digitization programme, supporting the Digital Content Coordinator.
- Provide assistance to the Managing Editor and to other departmental activities, as required.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
- Strong organizational ability
- Understanding of music notation, choral practice, and technique of different orchestral instruments
- Good level of practical musicianship, including keyboard skills and aural ability
- High level of English and excellent writing skills
- High level of digital literacy and familiarity with music engraving software
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Openness and can-do attitude to learning new skills
- Ability to adapt, as well as to work fast and under pressure to deadlines
