About the Role

We have an exciting Editor vacancy in our vibrant Secondary International team within the Education Division. You will be responsible to take specific print and digital projects through the development process and problem-solve to ensure that the resources publish on time and to budget.


Duties of the role will include:

  • Edit and help to level manuscript and illustration; review all proof/product release stages; collate input from authors, partners, and advisors for all print and digital products.
  • Build creative and effective author and adviser communications including managing post-publication services to authors to support manager in fostering good and productive author relations.
  • Proactively monitor schedules, plan, and recommend solutions to problems to avoid missed dates and follow best working practices so that print and digital products come out efficiently and on time.
  • Ensure that corrections are marked up/logged against the latest version of specified print and digital resources, and liaise with manager, author, production, design and digital (as appropriate) so that these corrections are implemented accurately and in good time.
  • Brief, manage and support freelance editors so that they work efficiently and meet their deadlines.
  • Monitor spend against budgets and alert manager to problems at all stages so that the project is kept within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, manager, editorial colleagues.
  • Proactively create opportunities to build international curriculum, teacher/learner and competitor knowledge in consultation with manager and apply knowledge to develop awareness of business unit strategy and to improve market focus and success of print and digital products.


We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.


About You

To be successful in the role, you will ideally have/be -


Essential:

  • High levels of literacy and numeracy
  • IT literate with experience of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills


Desirable:

  • Experience of teaching
  • Experience of educational publishing
