About The Role

Dyer & Butler are seeking a skilled and experienced Night Works Manager to join our Maintenance team. We are excited to present this new opportunity for a talented Works Manager Who is looking to be involved on a variety of challenging Projects. Focused on safety, compliance and delivery.

The Maintenance team provides technical services for a range of construction related disciplines, and activities, focused on delivering great service everyday supporting our clients’ primary assets to enable an extraordinary airport, fit for the future.

Primarily supporting our Aviation client in Hounslow – this role is suitable for experienced an experienced Works Manager.

  • Shifts for this role will start at 8:00pm and finish at 5:30am**

A nightly uplift will be paid due to night shift work

Role Purpose

Based on nights, the successful candidate will be, overseeing night-time operations at Heathrow Airport. This role involves managing groundworks and construction activities in a safety-critical, fast-paced environment within one of the world’s most prestigious airports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in groundworks, site supervision, and project management, with a commitment to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Achieving business delivery of the maintenance framework, effectively managing resources and delivering quality. Focused on best use of resource, plant and materials, to deliver great quality, safely while maintaining compliance with internal and client needs.

Being client focused, showing excellent understanding of the scope of works, ensuring excellent safety, standards and quality are maintained throughout the life cycle of the projects.

Maintaining excellent communication between all departments of the internal team and wider business units.

Qualifying Criteria

  • Oversee the day-to-day supervision of night-time construction projects, including drainage, pavements (concrete and asphalt), highway construction, foundations, footings, earthworks, and substructures.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations, particularly in a highly sensitive airport environment.
  • Assist the Project Management Team in planning and executing projects to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage and lead the site team, ensuring that all members are aware of their responsibilities and that work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the client, addressing any concerns or requirements promptly.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure they align with project specifications, safety protocols, and company values.
  • Ensure that all safety measures are in place and adhered to, minimizing risks and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Address any safety issues immediately and report them to the relevant authorities as required.
  • Due to the nature of airside operations, this role requires flexibility, with some daytime shifts as needed to meet project demands.
  • Be prepared to adapt to changing project needs and schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations.
  • Site experience and ability to drive Dyer and Butler’s values and behaviours.
  • Proven capability in delivering technical packages on civil engineering schemes.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of delivery solutions by identifying and introducing improvement opportunities.
  • Share knowledge and coach other team members in order to support improvements in team’s performance.
  • Ability to interpret scopes, technical information and drawings.
  • Good communications skills and ability to work well with other teams and departments at all levels both internally and externally, including client liaison.
  • Keep up to date with legislations and current industry standards.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of CDM roles and SHEQ duties.

Essential Qualifications And Skills

  • SMSTS or equivalent Site Management Training
  • Holder of CSCS accreditation (Black/Gold preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in all types of groundworks, including drainage, pavements, highway construction, and substructures.
  • Desire for self-development and continuous self-improvement.
  • Full UK driving license
  • 5yr Traceable employment

Desirable

  • Level 3 QCF Certificate in Utility Mapping and Surveying
  • Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience working within the construction, engineering and aviation sectors
  • Plant knowledge, including current CPCS Excavator qualification.
  • Confined space certification.
  • Cat and Genny training and experience.
  • Familiarity with airport environments and their specific requirements.
  • First Aid certification.
