An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative individuals to join an evolving team working as a Trainee CBT therapist within the East Riding Talking Therapy Service.

This role is fixed term for 12 months, with potential to being promoted to a qualified High Intensity Therapist position on a permanent contract (subject to successful completion of the course and service needs)
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide High Intensity CBT interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training which commences in March 2025 in collaboration with Hull University; the post is full time 37.5 hours.
This training post will equip you to provide a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of common mental health problems in primary care, for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
You will attend taught face to face and online days and self-study days provided by Hull University two days a week. For the remainder of the week you will work within the East Riding Talking Therapy Service fulfilling the Service based aspect of the training programme. The post will require a blend of remote and face to face attendance. On successful completion of the course you will be expected to work towards accreditation with the BABCP.
The post-holder will work within the Talking Therapy service providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and will manage a specialised caseload of moderate to moderately severe psychological disorders while undertaking the University training.
There is an expectation that trainees will be able to travel to Hull University for teaching as and when necessary. In addition to allocated university days, trainees will be expected to engage in self-directed study in their own time in order to successfully complete the course.

- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion, Child Protection
- Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
- Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
- Demonstrate specialist understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary care
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Basic IT skills
- Evidence of project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change that impacts within own area of work/responsibility

Essential criteria
- Candidates must have a degree (minimum of 2nd class honors) in an allied discipline or equivalent (usually Psychology) and additionally one of the following points in order to be considered.
- Candidates from a core profession background must have at least two years mental health experience post-qualification at the start date of the course.
- Candidates are unable to progress through the recruitment process if they are already registered on a Health Education England (HEE) funded programme
- Counselling – Accreditation with the BACP, IACP, COSCA, or FDAP (NCAC) - Registration with these organisations isn't sufficient
- Medicine – Psychiatrist or General Practitioner, MBChB or MBBS, and usually PG training with membership of MRCGP, MRCP or MRCPsych
