About Us

The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme and is available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-3-year olds a Flying Start in life. The programme aims to provide intensive support services for children and their families.

The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development and the early identification of high needs. This is achieved through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support and free part time childcare

About The Role

Details: Grade 5, SCP 8 - 12, £25,992- £27,711 p.a. pro rata

Hours of Work: 35 hrs per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday - term time only (39 weeks)

Main Place of Work: Barry

Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funded post until March 2026

Description: To provide high quality childcare for 2 to 3 year olds in the Flying Start areas of Barry. To provide full deputy duties for the childcare leader in their absence

About You

You will need:

  • Minimum NVQ 4/ QCF5 in Children’s Care Learning and Development (CCLD) Advanced Practitioner with the willingness to achieve the relevant leadership and management units
  • Early Years and Childcare Experience of working with Babies/Young children and their families.
  • Understanding of CIW requirements for Regulated Childcare Experience of planning, organisation and the implementation of play activities for young children
