Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) (Primary)
Location: Chesterfield (S43)
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-term
Role Overview: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will provide tailored support to students facing social and emotional challenges, helping them build confidence, develop positive behaviours and engage with their education. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals to create an inclusive and structured learning environment, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities Of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
- Deliver individual and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in implementing behaviour intervention strategies to foster positive development.
- Promote emotional resilience and social confidence through mentoring and guidance.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN professionals to tailor learning strategies.
- Support students in managing transitions and regulating emotions within the classroom.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and liaise with parents and carers when necessary.
- Encourage a sense of achievement and well-being in every student.
- Prior experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
- Profound knowledge of SEMH difficulties and the impact these can have on students' academic performance and emotional well-being.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for travel to various school locations) is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster trusting relationships.
- A proactive, patient and adaptable approach to individual student needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Attractive remuneration between £86 and £100 per day, based on experience and expertise.
