Job Summary
Royal Navy Family and People Support (RN FPS) is the Royal Navy’s dedicated welfare delivery organisation and is an integral part of Navy Command’s People Support. RN FPS offers a range of specialist services to RN Personnel, their families, and wider military communities across the UK and Overseas. The primary RN FPS function is delivery of an agile, integrated multi-disciplinary suite of services to support a global Navy. RN FPS provides three main pillars of service including Casework, Community Development & Outreach Support, and Information and Communication platforms. This adaptable and integrated organisation strives to enable and sustain resilience and resourcefulness within our diverse Naval Service Community.
Casework provides specific and tailored support to social care needs from crisis intervention to onward longer-term interventions. Casework service includes specialist support, especially during times of illness, grief and loss, or separation; and in particular where there are ongoing concerns for children, family, or relationships. As a Case Work Manager within the Portal Team, you will be crucial to the success of service delivery.
RN FPS provides an open, flexible and supportive work environment, with a blended workforce comprised of civil servants and RN personnel working together.

Job Description
RN FPS Portal Team is the primary point of contact crisis intervention provision to Naval Service personnel and their families around the world. Primarily focused on remote casework support via telecommunication and digital mediums although not exclusively. You will be expected to respond to
people in personal crisis in a sensitive and timely manner, assessing their level of need whilst advising the Command of potential courses of compassionate action that supports operational effectiveness.
As a Casework Manager you will manage welfare case referrals, including Visiting Officer role (support of the family of those who have died in service), prioritising appropriately according to need and operational requirement before allocating cases in your supervision chain, whilst ensuring the effective management of FPS casework, to achieve optimal capability.
Provide formal professional supervision to designated staff, in accordance with People Support RN FPS Processes. Undertake Line Management responsibilities for designated staff, including reporting responsibilities, in accordance with Civil Service Policy and Guidance.
Make compassionate recommendations up to and including compassionate assignment extensions, within the provisions of RN FPS Processes, Policy and Legislation.
Represent RN FPS at meetings commensurate with Primary and Secondary welfare responsibilities.
Identify casework trends and concerns to ensure appropriate pro-active and reactive responses.
Provide presentations/briefings and relevant training on People’s Support RN FPS activity – actively promoting the aims and objectives of the organisation.
Contribute to aspects of local operational delivery management, offering solutions for remedial/action plans.
Conduct casework audits on JANIS in accordance with People Support Processes.
Inform Hd RN FPS, or in their absence, HQ SO1 Casework, on all potential High Risk and contentious matters, including high-profile media cases and safeguarding concerns that involve RN FPS staff and/or the Chain of Command.

Are you a qualified SW with Senior experience and knowledge looking to apply your advanced skills and leadership to guide and manage a Team of frontline caseworkers and social workers undertaking crisis intervention work as part of the primary point of referral into Royal Navy welfare? Are you able to work collegiately alongside a colleague co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of this high paced and vital element of People Support?
If so, we are looking for a Casework Manager who will ensure the provision of a reactive Specialist Welfare service to Service Personnel and their families, encompassing emotional support, advice, guidance, and signposting, ensuring individual well-being and the safety of vulnerable adults/children is paramount. Ensure response times to allocated work, and subsequent case management and recording follow RN FPS Processes and JANIS Guidelines, complying with all applicable legal frameworks and statutory guidance.
We will ask you to evidence 3 years post-qualification experience and knowledge to be able to provide regular professional supervision and casework management to designated team members, in accordance with MOD/RN policy, processes and procedures, and legislative framework.
