Rotational Clinical Pharmacist
NHS Ayrshire & Arran
Date: 22 hours ago
City: Inverness
Contract type: Full time
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly pharmacy team.
You will work within the core areas of medicine, surgery and dispensary. Our technician led dispensary is supported by robotics. Here, your focus will be on the professional and clinical role of the pharmacist and taking on aspects of leadership and management. As you progress with your training, there will be opportunities to expand your role and undertake specialist placements in aseptic, medicines information and clinical specialities, such as; critical care, cardiology, renal, oncology/haematology, care of the elderly and paediatrics.
You will be supported to complete the NES post registration foundation programme. This will equip you with the skills required of a modern pharmacist, including those required to prescribe independently. Our team are highly motivated to provide good quality education and training and you will be guided by an experienced educational supervisor. A dedicated E&T pharmacist, linked with the Highlands and Islands pharmacy education and research team, will ensure training is up to date and of the highest standard. Peer support will be available locally and nationally. Once accredited, the ever-evolving and developing nature of the service means there will be opportunities for career progression. Your training needs will continue to be supported as you progress onto the RPS advanced framework and other post-graduate training, relevant to your role.
Raigmore Hospital is based in the rapidly expanding city of Inverness. The city provides a high quality of life with excellent transport links, including regular air services to hubs such as London and Amsterdam. It is host to a wide range of amenities including award winning bars, restaurants and music venues; history, culture and sports, beautiful scenery and a wealth of outdoor pursuits. The hospital serves a population of approx. 320,000 across a geographical area the size of Belgium! It is unique in that it covers many clinical specialties yet maintains a friendly, small hospital feel. The challenge of covering a remote and rural community inspires our teams to look at innovative ways of working in our pursuit to deliver high quality pharmaceutical care.
If you are looking for a challenging and fulfilling pharmacist position, which enables you to develop and advance your skills and knowledge, within a supportive team; whilst living in a city voted as the best and happiest place to live in the UK, then this may be the opportunity you are looking for.
To meet patient needs you will require to participate in on-call, public holiday and weekend rotas. Full training and a comprehensive induction will be provided prior to inclusion on these rotas. A friendly and responsive WhatsApp group is also in place. Applications are welcomed from trainee pharmacists and registered pharmacists from any sector. It is essential that you have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy. Community or primary care pharmacists looking for a change in career will be fully supported with the transition to hospital practice.
