Programme Details
- Start Date: September 2025
- Duration: 2 years
- Structure: Three individual eight-month placements
- Focus Areas: Machine learning, AI, and data science in drug discovery and development
- Hands-On Experience: Work alongside scientists to apply data science, AI, and machine learning techniques to advance drug discovery and development.
- Professional Growth: Develop both industry-specific and technical knowledge, supported by a mentor and a dedicated programme management team.
- Networking: Build collaborative relationships with specialists and leaders within AstraZeneca and leading academic and biotech research institutions.
- Target Identification: Identify new targets for novel medicines.
- Drug Design and Development: Optimize the design, development, and manufacturing of new drugs.
- Clinical Trials and Digital Health: Redefine clinical trials and digital health to improve patient experience and outcomes.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative science (e.g., Maths, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science) awarded in 2024 or due by September 2025.
- Experience: Hands-on experience in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or Cheminformatics.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of key machine learning or statistical models. Proficiency in Python or multiple data-centric programming languages for Big Data analysis.
- Attributes: Innovative thinking, enthusiasm, energy, drive, strong critical thinking, planning, organizational and time management skills, and ability to work collaboratively.
- Assessment: After submitting your application, you will complete an online assessment (SHL). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a full-day virtual assessment day.
