Main duties of the job

This exciting position is an opportunity to join the Radiotherapy department at the Southampton General Hospital. The applicant will be joining a dedicated team of Radiographers, Doctors and administrative staff who work together to provide a seamless pathway for patients having radiotherapy treatment.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, being able to relate equally well with staff of all grades, patients and members of the public. A familiarity with IT systems within the Trust for patient management would be an advantage, although full training will be provided where required.

There will be patient contact over the phone within the role.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

You will be supporting pathways for patients who are referred for Radiotherapy treatment, to work independently but under the guidance and supervision of a registered practitioner.

You will ensure the Radiotherapy Advanced Practitioner team are supported and all pathways progress smoothly.

You will ensure correct patient follow up process is in place.

We’re looking for excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with detailed knowledge of Cancer pathway and working processes.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria

  • Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience e.g. good knowledge across a range of health or social care settings, particularly in a hospital setting

Desirable criteria

  • Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word
  • NVQ Level 3

Previous or Relevant Experience

Essential criteria

  • Administrative and organisational experience
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems and progress chasing

Desirable criteria

  • Proficient in the use of hospital computerised patient systems
