We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team to support the Design team in the delivery of numerous major projects by undertaking the full range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services including cost consultancy to ensure the effective and timely delivery of best value services that comply with all statutory building and design requirements and Council policy.
As the Project Quantity Surveyor, you will manage designated projects, acting as the lead consultant and collaborating with professional officers across departments and external organisations. You will provide cost consultancy for a diverse range of schemes, prepare preliminary estimates and feasibility studies, and advise on cost-effective construction methods and procurement strategies.
Duties
About You
You’ll have in-depth experience in Quantity Surveying procedures and practices, within a large public or private sector organisation. Your expertise will include project management, budget management, construction procurement, and collaborative working. Strong consultation, negotiation, and influencing skills are essential, as you will be liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. Your ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively will enable you to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional service.
You will be adept at building and maintaining working partnerships both internally and externally. Clear and concise report writing skills are crucial, particularly when dealing with complex technical matters. A thorough understanding of regulations, procedures, and technical details is required to ensure compliance and best practices in Quantity Surveying.
Specialist knowledge of contract administration, including NEC and JCT forms of contract, as well as standard measurement methods and quantity surveying codes of practice, will be vital in this role.
You will hold a degree in Quantity Surveying and be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Additionally, you must be able to attend site meetings and valuations within the Borough regularly (2–3 times per week). - Procurement and tendering, making recommendations and reporting thereon.
- Contract preparation and working with JCT & NEC Suite of Contracts
- Measurement to NRM2 standard
- Project financial control and reporting, ensuring projects remain within budget.

- Agreeing final accounts
- Risk Management
