Job Description
The Service & Team:
The People and Prosperity Manager will report directly to the Head of Skills, within the Economy and Skill Service of the Council.
The Role
This is an exciting role sat within the Skills Team, leading and developing the strategic, policy, investment and commissioning of a wide range of skills programmes.
The role holder will lead and manage an employment and skills focussed team which will ensure that the organisation and wider partners and stakeholders are able to capitalise on opportunities to grow the economy of the region. This will include setting strategic direction and policy and using comprehensive and relevant economic intelligence to inform delivery.
To represent the Council and negotiate with appropriate partners and external stakeholders at regional, national and international levels in order to develop proposals for and agree employment and skills programme and resource arrangements. This will include partners in the private, education and community sectors as well as the public sector.
To provide a leadership role to the provision of employment and skills co-ordinating strategic delivery and guiding investment decisions, monitoring performance and acting upon intelligence to support evidence-based strategic programming including devolution.
To lead the corporate engagement process to ensure timely and appropriate reporting of performance and delivery to members and corporate directors.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
Working Pattern
37 hours a week. Flexible working arrangements and options available.
