Ruroc

Date: 1 week ago
City: Gloucester
Contract type: Full time
We are seeking a People Manager to cover maternity leave on a 12 month fixed-term contract starting in March 2025. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimising Ruroc’s people functions, including the full employee lifecycle, HR policies, employee relations, and Health and Safety initiatives. This role is key to maintaining our company culture, ensuring compliance, and driving talent strategy in line with our business objectives. You’ll play an essential part in supporting our people processes and delivering excellent HR services across the business.

We’re looking for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved in both the details and the bigger picture. You’ll manage day-to-day tasks while also stepping back to help shape and implement strategies that will support our long-term goals. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing the practical with the strategic. While this is a fixed-term role, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact and “put your stamp” on Ruroc. We have a range of exciting initiatives in the works, and we need someone who can help us see them through during this maternity cover period.

Main Accountabilities

  • Oversee and manage Ruroc’s headcount in alignment with company goals, ensuring effective change management during the maternity cover period.
  • Manage the full employee journey, from recruitment to retention, including creating job descriptions, sourcing talent through LinkedIn, managing recruitment via TeamTailor, and handling inductions and retention strategies.
  • Advise and support managers on HR processes related to employee relations matters such as absence management, disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations. Ensure compliance with processes during employee relations meetings.
  • Provide guidance to employees on HR processes, including flexible working, leave, and payroll matters.
  • Regularly review and update company policies, procedures, and HR processes in line with company objectives.
  • Create and manage staff surveys, implement action plans, and monitor employee engagement to drive a positive culture.
  • Support the continuous improvement of compensation, benefits, and payroll processes to ensure fairness and competitiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HiBob, ensuring the correct processing of payroll and compliance with data retention policies.
  • Manage the monthly payroll submission process with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across all HR functions, adhering to company and legal standards.
  • Provide support and guidance to the People Coordinator and Health and Wellbeing Coach, ensuring effective performance and development opportunities are provided and managed.
  • Contribute as a key member of the Health and Safety Committee, reviewing and implementing risk assessments, completing audit actions, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support and promote employee wellbeing initiatives to foster a healthy and safe working environment.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU:

  • Have proven experience in HR management.
  • Are experienced in coaching, advising, and building strong relationships with managers on employee relations and HR processes.
  • Have experience implementing and managing development and performance frameworks, salary benchmarking, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Are passionate about creating a great employee experience and promoting a positive company culture.
  • Have a solid understanding of UK Employment Law and HR best practices.
  • Are familiar with HR and recruitment systems and processes (experience with HiBob and TeamTailor is a plus).
