Operations Manager -

Main duties of the job

The role

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing a group of operational team leaders within their Operating Unit, they will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all clinical and non-clinical KPIs within their teams, reporting to and acting on behalf of the Operating Unit Manager when required.

The Operations Manager is liable for providing clear direction to the operational team leaders to ensure that the local health economy needs are met, whilst maintaining a working knowledge of the constraints budget may place on this.

The Operations Manager is required to hold a Masters degree qualification or have equivalent experience in a relevant discipline of management and required to be a registered Paramedic. Applicants are invited from both those staff who have undertaken the role as an acting operations manager and those who wish to consider the role as a next step.

Working for our organisation

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has over 3,661 staff working across 110 sites in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Around 87 per cent of our workforce is made up of operational staff – those caring for patients either face to face, or over the phone at one of our three emergency dispatch centres where we receive 999 calls. Our patients range from the critically ill and injured who need specialist treatment, to those with minor healthcare needs who can be treated at home or in the community.

Our Services

We respond to 999 calls from the public, urgent calls from healthcare professionals and provide NHS 111 services across the region.

Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.

Following the revision of current national legislation (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust has reviewed our requirements relating to staff uptake of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) vaccination.

Going forward, for patient facing positions, we strongly recommend that new starters will be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt in order to offer greater protection against exposure to the virus for front line staff.

In line with this recommendation, if you are successful in your application for a front line post, we will seek information from you in relation to your vaccine status, including exemption status, as applicable.

Please note, all positions come with a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check relevant to the post. This will either be a basic, standard, or enhanced check depending on the role. The level of check will be outlined in the conditional offer letter sent to successful applicants.
