A Probation Officer role is to provide professional advice, assessments, and written reports to courts, the Parole Board, other criminal justice agencies and partner organisations. The role is very rewarding but can be challenging – as you often work with people with complex needs, and no two people are the same.

Technical 1

  • Knowledge and understanding of the work of the Criminal Justice System and the Probation Service.

  • Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and risk/needs assessment tools.

Person specification

Qualifications

You must hold a Probation Officer qualification or be a qualified Probation Officer, with the successful candidate holding one of the following:

  • PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation

Practice; or

  • Diploma in Probation Studies; or Diploma in Social Work (Probation option); or

CQSW (Probation option)
