Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Location: Hampshire (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Company Car or Allowance

Overview

A well-established design and build company is looking to add a skilled Mechanical Estimator to their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on a variety of projects-ranging in value up to £2M (with most around £500k)-across the commercial, schools, and healthcare sectors. With hybrid working available, this role offers both flexibility and the chance to be part of a forward-thinking organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate mechanical estimates using Ensign estimating software.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to produce detailed estimates.
• Work closely with the design and delivery teams to ensure estimates align with project objectives.
• Conduct take-offs for materials, labour, and equipment.
• Maintain and update cost databases and pricing schedules.
• Support the tendering process by providing comprehensive and competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine estimates and improve cost efficiencies.
• Contribute to the team's overall development, ensuring best practices are followed.
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including ventilation, plumbing, and air-conditioning.
• Familiarity with estimating software (experience with Ensign is preferred).
• Excellent understanding of the commercial, educational, and healthcare sectors.
• Ability to handle multiple tenders simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members, clients, and suppliers.
• A proactive approach to identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures.
