Materials Engineer

This role is as an understudy to the Technical Manager with responsibility for assisting with technical support to internal clients such us sales and projects. In addition, the role will require to undertake administrative duties required to support activities carried out in technical department in order to deliver technical projects in a timely manner. The role will involve a reasonable amount of hands-on, practical activity to support ongoing material testing.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide assistance and advice to all departments on matters of material properties.
• Liaise with external laboratories for the evaluation of materials where this is not able to be carried out in-house.
• Maintain record of AIS’s certification and ensure all certificates are renewed and in date at all times
• Ensure company qualification documentation is up to date and maintained in correct format reflecting requirement of external standards and client requirements
• Review of documentation against requirement and report findings
• Hands on problem solving and technical support when required
• Arrange and participate in the preparation of material samples as are necessary to meet Company qualification requirements.
• Arrange and participate in the testing of materials such that Company qualification is completed within any required timescales.
• Write technical reports to a standard necessary for publication to clients.
• Ensure that all duties are undertaken in a safe and controlled manner and for which suitable training has been received.

This is a full-time permanent position contracted to 37.5 hours per week working 08:00-16:45 Monday-Thursday and 08:00-12:30 on Fridays. Flexibility around working hours will be required in line with the needs of the business.
