What’s the opportunity for a Legal Counsel at Gearset
- ?Accelerate Gearset’s growth by partnering with our Sales and Customer Success teams to review, negotiate, and close commercial agreements with some of our largest and most complex customers, balancing the legal risk against our commercial goals
- .Solve a variety of legal and business challenges in a fast-moving, focused, and collaborative environmen
- tEducate Gearcitizens on the latest legal and regulatory developments which may impact our business, keeping abreast of and up to date on any changes
- .Recommend ways to improve and scale our processes and reduce friction, so we can keep up with the rapid growth of the business

What you’ll achie
- veAs part of a small but mighty legal team, you’ll work closely with our Head of Legal and existing Legal Counsel to provide expert, pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of business matter
- s.Support our Sales and Customer Success functions, as we continue to grow our customer base and expand opportunities, to ensure we can quickly and effectively win customer opportunitie
- s.Advise and assist other internal teams with their legal challenges, as the need arise
- s.Play a key role in ensuring we remain compliant with national and international data protection legislation, supporting our Head of Legal and Compliance Manager, advising on data processing agreements and our internal data protection processe
- s.Work closely with our IT and Engineering teams, as we increase the use of AI tools across the business and within our softwar
- e.Help shape and develop our legal function, as we scale and streamline our legal operation

- youA proactive junior/mid-level UK qualified lawyer with proven post-qualification experien
- ce.Experience reviewing and negotiating technology/SaaS agreements (whether in private practice or in-hous
- e).Able to pragmatically balance ideal legal outcomes with the reality of commercial goa
- ls.Comfortable leading contract negotiations with customers, and building effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholde
- rs.A good understanding of UK and EU data protection laws (US would be helpful to
- o).Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail, which you can apply to drafting documents, policies and contracts and communicating in a precise and digestible mann
- er.Able to effectively prioritise and stay focused in an environment that’s constantly evolvi
