WSP is the largest employer of Town Planners across the UK, with a team of over 240 chartered planners, operating across infrastructure and property sectors. We are leaders in securing consent for major infrastructure projects and have one of the largest teams of planning, land referencing, environmental and stakeholder engagement professionals specialising in consent applications across all types of infrastructure.
Within Scotland our team works across multiple infrastructure sectors but has developed a particularly strong focus of supporting clients in the energy sectors such as onshore and offshore wind, hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage, energy transmission and distribution, and solar renewables and battery storage. Our clients include SSE, Scottish Power and Scottish Power Renewables, BP, EDF Energy, RWE, National Gas, National Grid, Eni UK and many more.
The successful candidate will be client-focused with experience of leading and delivering developments infrastructure projects under the Electricity Act and Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act. Given that many of our projects are cross boundary projects, experience of the DCO Process/Planning Act 2008 would also be advantageous.
You will be commercially aware, with experience of leading tenders and bids. You will be familiar with managing programme and budgets as part of project delivery.

A Little More About Your Role…
- Supporting the Service Line Director, the Town Planning Team Leader in Scotland and other Sector Leads to pursue new work winning opportunities in line with WSP’s Growth Strategy.
- Leading on bids and tenders on behalf of WSP.
- Mentoring colleagues by supporting them in their work winning and project delivery roles.
- Acting as Project Director/Planning Lead on major projects under the Electricity Act, the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act.
- Tracking and reporting on new work winning opportunities.
- Client liaison and support.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- Degree level qualification in town planning.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
- Chartered status.
- Experience of leading Energy Sector infrastructure projects, working with multi-disciplinary teams.
