GSL Education are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Post-16) to join a well-regarded sixth-form college in Newcastle. This role offers a gateway into the rewarding world of education, providing you with invaluable experience working with post-16 students.

Role Overview

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting students aged 16-19, helping them achieve their academic goals and develop vital life skills. Working closely with subject teachers and the pastoral team, you will offer tailored support to students, fostering their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons across various subjects.
  • Provide targeted support to students with differing learning needs, ensuring inclusivity and progression.
  • Facilitate small group sessions or one-to-one interventions to enhance student understanding.
  • Support students preparing for examinations, coursework, or future pathways, such as higher education or employment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting resilience and independence.

Requirements

  • A university degree in any discipline, with a strong academic background.
  • A genuine interest in working within the education sector, particularly with post-16 students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate young adults while demonstrating patience and empathy.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
