Job Opportunity: Document Controller – Balfour Beatty
Location: Willerby, Hull
Full-Time Position

Balfour Beatty, a leading international infrastructure group, is looking for a skilled Document Controller to join our team in Willerby, Hull. This is an exciting opportunity to support operations and projects by ensuring the efficient management and control of all project documentation and workflows.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage and maintain confidential records such as operational documents,
  • Execute on workflows/transmittal processes
  • Manage the control of Internal and External registers, to ensure they both align
  • Maintain templates and file all relevant documentation to SharePoint and BIM360 and other platforms
  • Distribute information with correct configuration management and revision control Analytical Thinking & Decision Making
  • Seek continuous improvement on current systems and processes
  • Ensure timeous information is provided to the client, to the project team and any
    subcontractors where applicable
  • Provide feedback on any documentation issues that impact on the wider project
    Health Safety & Environmental
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and contribute toward observation and
    other KPIs
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure they have a full understanding of document
    control
  • Provide training as required such that documentation control requirements are met Risk, Issue & Opportunity
  • Ensure that the project team are notified of all potential opportunities and risks
    Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Support in review of supply chain specialists
  • Support in compilation, control and submission of H&S file/Quality Handover information and ITPs throughout the project
  • Help to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Check and review formatting and QA information of documentation
  • Provide information for various project KPIs Schedule
  • Ability to manage own schedule, and prioritise document submissions
  • Ensure timely submissions of documents where required
  • Weekly reporting
  • Management of review timeline
  • Execute contractual requirements in relation to document control as noted by senior personnel
  • Ensure accurate control of digital information from pre-construction through to archiving
  • Manage business archiving such that all documentation is stored efficiently and can be accessed and referenced at all times


Who we're looking for



The following qualities/experience are essential:
  • Proficient in IT systems and EDMS used in documentation control –
    BIM360, SharePoint, Aconex, ViewPoint, BC
  • Experience of document control
  • Understanding of BIM and digital tools, including a working understanding
    of ISO19650
  • An ability to understand how the operations of the department relate to others and work collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the business
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
  • Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence

The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • Experience of working on a variety of project types
  • Proficient on O365
  • Holds a current driving license
