Job Overview
To support the senior staff with the running of Newport community wards on a shift-by-shift basis.
To undertake management responsibilities in the absence of the Ward Manager.
To demonstrate evidence based clinical practice and be responsible for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of care
To act as a mentor with recognised mentor experience and a proven history of providing supervision to junior staff.
To actively work as a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team
To develop an understanding of the requirements of the National Service Framework
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to come and join Newport Community Wards, Royal Gwent Hospital.
As a band 6 Deputy Ward Manager, you will confidently work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
We are looking for an individual who can assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidenced-based nursing care within a quality, recovery focused service for patients. You will contribute to the education, development and line management of other staff members (registrants and non-registrants) and undertake management responsibilities in the absence of the Ward Manager.
This post requires motivation, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and demonstration of evidence based clinical practice. The candidate should also be a mentor with recognised mentor experience and a proven history of providing supervision to junior staff.
The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about professional development and be open to undertaking further academic qualifications. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, motivated, hardworking and be able to manage their time effectively.
The successful candidate will receive support in their new role and will be encouraged in further development. They will gain experience in directly leading and managing staff with clear guidelines and goals.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
