Why this job matters

As our specialist, you will support the Acquisition & In-Life team in Credit Risk and our customer facing unit (CFU) stakeholders in ensuring BT complies with all relevant credit risk and regulatory principles. You will manage a key project which is under NDA, supporting the project team with their improvement initiatives and drive the function forwards with innovative, forward thinking strategies and policies to mitigate risks of bad debt and fraud. The work you do will provide support across the customer lifecycle for Consumer customer segments.

You will be meticulous, comfortable taking ownership, as well as demonstrating initiative when working independently and alongside the wider business where needed. You can also bring ideas to the table to enhance current policies in line with regulation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the successful implementation and application of Credit Risk policies and changes
  • Provide critical intelligence/analysis to support the case for change both within Acquisition & In-Life Credit Risk (AILR) and the wider business
  • Manage and analyse proofing and fraud tool performance; identify trends and conduct root cause analysis
  • Document key AILR policies and processes to ensure BT’s activities comply with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Represent AILR with internal and external stakeholders including project teams supporting Consumer
  • Deliver process improvements and improve customer journeys
  • Keep up to date with emerging technology, market conditions, industry standards, FCA and government regulations, and other factors affecting business operations
  • Bring innovative/out-of-the-box thinking to make recommendations and to solve key business problems to improve KPIs

Skills Required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent English speaker
  • Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
  • Good Credit Risk exposure and experience
  • Excellent Project Management experience
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills; ability to challenge where required
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders across multiple business units up to Director level
  • Ability to lead virtual teams across the business to deliver initiatives to drive a step change in credit policy KPIs
  • Strategic planner and highly organised
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision to produce results
  • Excellent attention to detail

Experience You Would Be Expected To Have

  • Good understanding of credit risk management principles and processes
  • Experience of writing policy and processes
  • Experience of working in a high-volume Consumer Business
  • Experience of complaint management ideally within an FCA regulated environment
  • Analytically minded and able to use SAS or similar software would be beneficial
  • Experience working cross-functionally to define and improve credit processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships up to Director level
