Your new role, what’s involved?
WSP are looking for an enthusiastic and diligent Engineer to join the Maritime team based in the UK.
As part of the team, you will have an opportunity to complement the wide experience of a highly knowledgeable and dynamic team of Maritime experts based in the UK and across the globe.
As one of the team members you will be contributing to the technical delivery of a wide range of UK based and international projects for a variety of clients, ranging from local authorities to private clients and international terminal operators. You will have the opportunity to provide input to all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through design and construction, to demolition, recycling, and reuse.
You will be working under the supervision of senior team members but you should be able to deliver design calculations, technical specifications, reports, and other deliverables in accordance with Eurocodes, international standards, and client requirements with minimum guidance. Additionally, you will also have an opportunity to work closely with the clients and be able to develop project management skills.
Your role will be office based; however, you will have an opportunity to visit sites around the UK to support some of our asset management projects. Also, our overseas projects often provide opportunities to travel, and you may be required to travel for short periods of time.

We'd Love To Hear From You If You
- Hold a BEng/ MEng in Civil Engineering or similar/related qualification;
- Are chartered or actively working towards chartership with membership of an applicable institution (ICE/ or similar);
- Have experience in working on Maritime projects for example: container terminals, liquid and dry bulk terminals, offshore wind, ro-ro etc;
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and civil engineering skills;
- Are able to check and produce quality technical outputs and solutions;
- Are capable of coordinating and working effectively with other disciplines and team members;
- Are competent in using MS office-based software;
- Can communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing;
- Are personable, approachable, enthusiastic, and empathetic;
- Are organised, disciplined, and show a structured and consistent approach to your way of working;
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence;
- Experience in any of the following is desirable, but not essential across all areas:
- Analysis and design of marine structures for example: jetties, wharfs, quay walls, dolphins etc;
- Asset management of marine structures such as inspections, surveys and rehabilitation of existing assets;
- Mooring and berthing analysis (i.e. Optimoor);
- Civil works including: earthworks analysis and level assessment, cut&fill assessment and clash detection;
- Working under a BIM environment.
