Job Overview
A Catering Supervisor is being recruited to support and assist the Assistant Hotel Service Manager and Café Glade/Cross Roads /Courtyard Restaurant Manager in the provision of a highly professional and customer focused retail outlet (the Café Glade coffee shop). This is situated within Wexham Park Hospital.
You will be working 5 days over 7 days between the hours of 07.00-19.00

Main duties of the job
The job holder will assist the Assistant Hotel Service Manager/ Food Service Manager to expand and/or make recommendations for improving standards and enhancing the service to all customers. This would be through quality initiatives and by looking at ways of maximising good customer care and income generation. You’ll be expected to serve patients, their visitors and staff in a welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, whilst maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. You’ll be working as part of a motivated team.
Candidates must have experience in managing people - motivating them to do their best, to become engaged with the role and to commit to the operation to diffuse conflicting scenario within the team .
You will be expected to be able to communicate and support through the department and beyond - whether with NHS colleagues in the hospital or external contacts such as contractors are on site.
We have a constant cycle of training and refresher training and you will maintain this with the Catering Assistant Team members along with management of holidays, sickness and an electronic rota system [Health Roster] are also part of the role.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To undertake the operational day-to-day supervision of Cafés, with organisation and planning of your allocated work before and after service and associated duties around opening times
- Be familiar with menu content, products on offer, all selling prices and details of other retail outlets (i.e., opening times)
- To be involved in the preparation of all foodstuffs, adhering strictly to standard recipes, production methods and checking of food and beverages served, for quantity, quality and appearance and maintaining standards of hygiene and temperature control as laid down in the kitchen HACCP.
- To ensure that all food items are displayed well and kept tidy throughout opening times
- Support the Food Service Manager, in implementation of all agreed working practices in order to ensure that visitors and staff have good “shopping experience”.
- Assist the Food Service Manager in opportunities to maximise income generation from Café Glade & Crossroad Cafe.
- Co-operating with other members of the Catering Team to maintain and improve the present high standard of food service for Visitors, Staff and Patients
- The post holder is an ambassador for the Department and his/her actions and conduct will be judged by patients and visitors as an indication of the quality of service provided by the Department as a whole.

- A working knowledge of Food safety/Kitchen hygiene and HACCP
- Customer care experience
- Working towards grade 3 certificate in food hygiene
