Working within Middlesbrough Council, our team helps those experiencing problems with substance use, domestic abuse, and homelessness.
We are looking for a passionate, motivated individual to join our Alcohol and Non-Opiate team as a Non-Opiate Caseworker.
The successful candidate will manage a case load of clients with issues around alcohol and substance use, delivering a range of psychosocial Interventions to help clients reach their health and wellbeing goals.
Previous experience and/or knowledge of substance use services would be advantageous but is not essential as a comprehensive training package will be provided. Similarly, previous experience within this field is desirable but not essential. We are looking for transferrable skills such as caseload management, care planning, risk management and previous experience of working with vulnerable clients.
Skills
This job would be good for those who have previously worked in a support setting. We also welcome those with lived experience. The skills and attributes needed to be successful in this role are:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- both verbally and written
The ability to build rapport with others easily
The ability to organize and prioritise effectively
Resilience in the face of challenges and crisis situations
A passion for helping others and the drive to help clients achieve their goals
A commitment to continuous professional development
Flexibility in your approach to meet clients’ needs
Please note, this is a fixed term vacancy until 31.03.2026.
You will also need a full UK driving licence and business insurance in place prior to commencing in post.
Due to the nature of this role, an enhanced DBS checked against adults and children is required and we will facilitate this for the successful candidate.
