Brief Description
You'll be joining the Finance and Business Support function which is part of the corporate structure within the Route Services directorate. Your role involves supporting the function to deliver services that are vital to the running of the railway, delivering the provision of services agreed by the routes to allow them to benefit from economies of scale and the optimisation of our critical resources.
To provide professional support to the functions and key stakeholders of multiple systems used across the business. To provide technical and operational support and guidance. To act as subject area expert for all relevant Business Systems.
About The Role (External)
What will you be doing?
Salary: Band 5 £26,500 - £28,000 (Awarded based on experience)
Closing date: 6th January 2024. - Late applications will not be accepted. This role has also been advertised externally.
We will be holding an assessment day on Friday 17th January 2024. This will run from 9am - 4pm, full day attendance is required. Online individual assessments will be sent out to those shortlisted, please complete prior to attending the assessment day.
For this role you need to live within 75/90 minutes of The Quadrant in Milton Keynes.
Remote working opportunity! this role requires working in the office 2/3 days a week
Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
Our Drugs and Alcohol Standard is changing as of 16.01.2023. All prospective candidates who have not been offered a conditional role by 16.01.2023 will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.

About The Role (External)
What will you be doing?
- Maintain integrity of systems for all users and provide system administration with regards to access and security.
- Support in the development of new systems and improve current systems as identified.
- Maintain user guides for all systems, their purpose, requirements and users.
- Assist in preparing business areas for transition to new ways of working when business systems are implemented or altered.
- Assist in the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Investigate faults reported by users through various channels, applying a priority to each and tracking that corrective action has been taken, liaising with other business areas to expedite resolution.
- Familiarity with Web based Applications.
- Excellent analytical skills in a technical or systems related environment
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Previous experience of managing multiple work streams to ensure priority is correctly identified.
- High level of IT Literacy
- Excellent telephone manner and a customer focussed approach.
- An understanding of Network Rail’s operating and logistic processes.
- An understanding of Supply Chain, Procurement or Asset Management processes, hierarchies, and legislation.
- Previous experience of Network Rail Systems such as Oracle, SharePoint, NROL3, Maximo, & Bravo
- Experience of test environments to identify and develop solutions.
