Job Overview
Are you looking for an Associate Practitioner position with a desire to work as part of the largest NHS led Pathology Services in the UK? You will be based at Wexham Park Hospital.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual with a good scientific background to complement our existing laboratory support team. Previous microbiology laboratory experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
Essential qualities expected are efficiency, being well organized, having good communication skills and attention to detail. Good keyboard skills are desirable. In addition, you should be a reliable individual who is able to demonstrate good practical skills and work as part of a team. There will be an expectation to help lead the laboratory support team.
It is also expected that you are experienced in Maldi-Tof testing, Antibiotic sensitivity testing and Quality bench work including acceptance testing.
You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills and able to participate in the shift system. Support and encouragement will be given for career development.

Essential criteria
- Good basic education in numeracy and literacy skills.
- A Levels, NVQ level 4, foundation degree or IBMS CoA (Part 2)
- Microbiology or biomedical science qualification
- ECDL or other compter literacy evidence

- Good communication skills, verbal and written
- Possess basic IT skills
- Ability to work independently for periods of time
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

- Experience as an AP or in other laboratory support role
- Ability to liaise effectively with clinical and clerical staff

- Able to perform technically challenging processes
- Experience of Diagnostic Microbiology laboratory

- Must be available to work the extended day / shifts operated in BSPS
- Able to move between laboratories and sites as required
- Good time management
