The Young People’s Unit (YPU) is a mental health inpatient service, in a purpose built unit, for young people aged between 12 and 18 years old who are experiencing complex mental health conditions. The YPU is based in Dundee (17 Dudhope Terrace) and provides 12 beds for patients from across the North of Scotland region (NHS Grampian, NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland, NHS Tayside and NHS Western Isles).
We believe in providing person centred care collaboratively with young people, their families, carers and partner agencies. Everyone young person has areas of strength and resilience and we believe in providing an environment where they can feel safe to express their views and feel heard. We know that recovery is a different journey for everyone, but we believe in different possibilities and that wellness is achievable.
This role will involve providing dietetics support to a highly specialist caseload of young people, and providing a specialised resource to other healthcare staff and families/carers. We are looking for an individual with advanced clinical skills, knowledge and experience. The role will also involve the supervision, education and development of AHP support workers and students within your speciality.

We recognise that people interested in the opportunities provided by working in this exciting and challenging environment may not have direct experience of working within CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), therefore the unit team will provide regular supervision and training to support the person who is appointed to this role.
Hours of work are 37 per week (FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT MATERNITY LEAVE COVER FOR 12 MONTHS)
